Toyota Kirloskar Motors Private Limited (TKM) established in the year 1997 is a joint venture by the Kirloskar Group of India and the Japanese auto giant the Toyota Motor Corporation. The Toyota Quallis was the most popular vehicle from the TKM. The MPV Toyota Innova was launched in 2005 to replace the Quallis. On October 5th 2014 all the models of the Innova have been given a face lift. In September 2014 a limited edition of the Innova has also been launched.
There are totally 18 diesel and 3 petrol models of the 7-8 seater Innova available in India. The Toyota Innova Price is vary from Rupees 10.21 to 15.07 lakh. Few of the models conform to BSIII emission norms and others to BSIV.
The Innova has attractive colours of blue metallic, grey mica metallic, dark red mica metallic, silky gold mica metallic, silver mica metallic, super white and white. The features at the front include a stylish chrome grille with three slats, the angular headlamps, the oval fog lamps and a chrome band above the grille. Tinted glasses, the slanted ‘A’ and ‘D’ pillars, flowing pattern of the wheel flare and a chrome band placed at the rear make the body attractive.
The cabin of the Innova has a single tone dash board, dual tone seat covers, a manual AC, an engine immobiliser, central locking and child lock facilities, a power and tilt steering and internally operable ORVMs. The middle variants have 1 airbag for the driver, ABS, power windows, rear wiper and defogger and electrically operated body coloured ORVMs with blinkers as additional features. Top variants have leather seats, 2 airbags at the front, an automatic AC, a 2 Din music system with a 6” touch screen for audio, DVD player and Bluetooth connectivity for phone & audio controls, a rear parking sensor with camera, leather wrapped multi functional steering wheel and rain sensing wipers.
The petrol versions of the Innova use a 1998 cc, 130 bhp, 181 NM torque engines with mileages of 11.4kmpl. The diesel variants use a 2499 cc, 100 bhp, 200 NM torque engines with mileages of 12.99 kmpl. It takes 12.8 seconds to shift speed from 0 to 100 kmph and the maximum speed is 170 kmph.
The Innova has 2750 mm wheel base and 176 mm ground clearance. The suspensions are the double wishbone axle type at the front and the four links with lateral rod type at the rear. The brakes are disc type at the front and the drum type at the rear.
The competition for the Innova comes from the cars like the Tata Sumo Grande, the Chevrolet Tavera, the Mahindra Xylo and the Tata Aria.
